Afternoon Baking

Decided it was an afternoon to do a little baking and decided to try my hand for the 2nd time at the delicious SHARLOTKA APPLE CAKE. It is the easiest & quickest cake to whip up for an afternoon tea with friends or a quick dessert to serve with cream or ice cream. "Sharlotka" a Russian version of an apple pie.

Ingredients:
3 Eggs
1 Cup Sugar
1 Cup Flour
4 Large Apples

Method:
Wash, peal and dice apples into one inch pieces.

Using a mixer, beat eggs with sugar, until it’s three times in volume.

Using a spatula, fold in flour by thirds; be very gentle with the dough, to not overmix it and lose the fluffiness.

Lay out the diced apples on the bottom of a 9 inch pan. Cover apples with cake batter, shake the pan a bit, to spread batter between each apple piece.

Bake it at 180 for 40 minutes, check, using a wooden toothpick. If the cake is ready, the dough should not stick to the toothpick. Once the cake will cool off a little, turn it over with the bottom up and dust with some powdered sugar.

Original recipe can be found here....enjoy.

Pagemaps Sketch & Jot Challenge

My cousin Nathalie asked me to join her and her Mauritian friends playing with the sketch challenge running for February at PageMaps, of course I can never resist a challenge and getting some creative time, especially when mine had disappeared for a while, but I am happy to think that this sketch might have kick-started my MOJO again...

So, decided to use my recent stash I got from Svetlana at Colorful Memories. I loved working with these Webster's Pages - Allison Kreft Recorded range, the papers are so fresh & funky.

This gorgeous site by Kim Archer who runs Jot Magazine was also having a challenge, which was to use the mood board below to inspire your project.

I twisted the sketch around and came up with this.

Supplies used: American Craft - White CS, Webster's Pages - Allison Kreft Recorded PP range, Kaisercraft Rob-ons - Family, Ranger Stickles - Platinum, Random Brown Sequins, Random Wooden Word Love Strip.

Happy Mail Day

Finally got some of my gorgeous stash arriving here...

Due to our postal system taking long for things to get to us from overseas, my Citrus Twist December kit finally arrived and I am loving all the goodies in it...

Also received my Box from Stephanie (my oh so sweet friend in the US). It was a few things I ordered from Me and My Big Ideas and some Tim Holtz Distresser Daubers a while ago which she kept aside for me to post over Christmas time. She was so sweet to add in a few little extras...love you GF xxx

As I stated in my previous post, this year I plan on being more creative and getting my hobby back on track, as I have missed it so...!
